The mural at Wilshire Crest Elementary has a positive message for the young students about protecting our earth. These bright , bold colors depict images of a child with upswept arms and representatives of the animal kingdom and nature are depicted in the background . Around the top of the mural is written "Prevent , Protect, Preserve ." In the foreground is an open book with the title "Our Earth". The mural style is simple, graphic and dreamlike to appeal to children and also to make it easier for volunteers to participate in painting  the mural for Earth Day.
