The intention of the mural is to celebrate music by reflecting Mid City's music program and it is painted on the side of the schools music building. Images of music students at the school with their instruments were incorporated into the mural to showcase the cultural diversity and the range of instruments that the students play in the school music program. The figures are painted in a semi-realistic style against a background of bright colored shapes conveying a sense of movement.  Latino and African American are the primary ethnic groups at the school and Carlos Santana and Duke Ellington were chosen by the music teacher to be depicted in the mural as role models. The mural is highly visible from Adams Blvd. and by students on the school field and walkway.
